Jewellery, items that have been praised and prized for over two millennia. It seems that from the moment human kind found those precious metals and shiny stones, they can’t stop thinking about them. Gems have embedded thrones of kings and blades of emperors. Gold and silver has been gifted to messiahs and used in royal dowries and now a woman’s boudoir is not complete without a stand of necklaces, rings, pendants, earring, bracelets and more. Whether made from precious metals and stones or what is commonly known as ‘costume’ jewellery, people can’t get enough. It’s no surprise with how many jewellers there are out there, especially when the likes of Jacobs the Jeweller confidently share what our customers have said about us trying to instil confidence in their prospective customers. But, before you can continue with your journey hunt, let me take you on a brief journey through what is ‘hot’ right now in jewellery.
Ear Cuffs
Ear cuffs look like multiple piercings running up the back of your ear, however it’s just a cuff, much like the (also, very fashionable right now) arm cuffs. They’re small and dainty and accompany so many different styles that every girl really should have one in her jewellery box somewhere!
Midi Rings
As everyone knows, a midi ring is a ring that sits partially up your finger, normally between the first and second knuckles. These have been seen up and down the red carpets this year already and make a great alternative to normal rings. You can also get midi rings that are essentially a small collection of rings that fit together into one ring and would really complement the ear cuff.
Rose Gold
The metal Rose Gold is definitely going to the coloured metal you see the most of this summer. Because it’s a fairly neutral colour it works on so many things and complements any outfit. You’ll see it on clutch bags, watches, bracelets, and shoes. For those who don’t know it’s an extremely pale pinkish colour that has been gaining popularity these last few years.
Diamonds
Diamonds, as you know, never go out of fashion; the crowing jewel, if you will. Another trend that I think you will see picking up speed this year is having your loved ones ashes and or hair compressed into a diamond; click here to get more information on how it works. It’s such a brilliant idea and creates such wonderful artefacts and heirlooms that it’s become very easy to see why this is gaining popularity so quickly.
Brass
If rose gold failed to tickle your fancy (and I can see why some might not go for it) then the other top metal accessory at the moment is brass. That’s right: brass. It might not sound elegant or attractive, but trust me if you go to any catwalk show this year you will see so much brass it will be like someone melted down a Roman emperor statue.
Metal and Gemmed Chokers
Chokers are holding onto their dominance as the accessory of choice (you could say they have a … chokehold … on the marketplace). What we are seeing more and more of is heavy metal (no, not that kind) and gemmed versions hitting the scene. The laced ones adored by hippy chicks are losing their momentum in favour of these beauties.
There we go, now you know what everyone’s going to be wearing to Wimbledon and the after garden-party that you’re hosting this year.
